CHILD AND FAMILY THERAPY

THERAPY FOR CHILDREN, TEENS, AND FAMILIES

Hilary Rosen — “As a mom I know that raising children is the hardest job there is.”

Bear family in tree photoChildren and families sometimes get stuck and need support from a therapist to grow into a happier place. Though it is a universal experience, it can be difficult to navigate alone. My hope is that you feel welcome and fully supported in the therapeutic process.

I enjoy supporting children and families in ways that work for their unique styles. Using an integrative approach, I draw from multiple therapy systems to fully address each person’s needs. (Some of these include humanistic therapy, family therapy, attachment based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, LGBTQIA affirmative therapy, behavioral therapy, play therapy, trauma therapy, mindfulness, and DBT.)

As issues arise in sessions it is often helpful for me to mediate communication between children and their parents. Parent involvement is invaluable and speeds the process of growth and healing for the child and family as a whole. I use a constructive nonjudgmental style of communication that puts families at ease and encourages mutual understanding and resolution.

PARENTING SUPPORT

Parents have an immensely difficult job and are most effective when they receive the therapeutic support they need.  In my work with families,  I provide ongoing parent psycho-education and training. This includes offering insight and recommendations about the child or teen’s issues, teaching practical parenting strategies, connecting parents with community resources and providing a listening ear and feedback about parental concerns. Also, I work with parents in individual therapy when they need help with unresolved emotional issues that interfere with their effectiveness as a parent.
